I live in rural Minnesota today – the home of Hubert
Humphrey, Gene McCarthy, and Paul Wellstone (three progressive lions).
I have worked in the health insurance industry for many
years . . . which certainly taught me the need for change!
My social goals are unchanged:
- To bring health care and higher education into the public domain, rather than just another opportunity for rent extraction. We must stop forcing people to use debt, for benefits they should get for free.
- To move the entire nation toward what would be, frankly, German labor law.
- To help our most vulnerable citizens with free legal help, low-interest loans, and the absolute end of offender-funded justice.
My core belief is that social insurance, plus consumer and
worker protection actually raises our standard of living. For these you need
government, and you need new laws!
My purpose with
this newsletter is:
- To propose numerous ideal laws, which would make us a better country;
- To report on actual laws, being debated and (hopefully) passed right now;
- To share the best writing, which justifies the new laws.
